Italic Questions and Answers

Preface

The Editor invited four teachers, embodying between them a wide range of experience, to identify the difficulties commonly encountered by children and adults as they learn the italic hand, and to describe the aspects that they feel it necessary to emphasize in their teaching to combat these difficulties.

Their reports are printed in the pages that follow. We hope that our readers will profit from this wealth of expert advice. Left-handers, in particular, whose numbers seem to increase overnight, will find that their special needs have not been forgotten. We should like to extend warm thanks for their ready co-operation to Jan Schalkwijk, John Smyth, Brian Walker and Nancy Winters.
